Welcome to NanoMRI8,
This conference aims to bring together researchers working on experiments to detect spin systems with mechano-opto-electronic systems - connecting topics such as nuclear magnetic resonance, nanomechanics, and quantum physics. Nanoscale MRI is being developed since the early 1990s with the goal of imaging individual molecules and small biological entities such as proteins and virus particles. This has sparked a broad range of experimental implementations: Magnetic probes of nitrogen vacancy color centers in diamond, magnetic resonance force microscopy, detection of hyperpolarization using superconducting circuits, electron spin detection in STM and hybrid quantum systems that detect spins using nanomechanical membranes or bulk modes. NanoMRI8 aims to discuss the recent developments and future perspectives on these platforms and the field in general.
This conference is part of a series that was started at Cornell in 2006. The goal is to bring together both leading authorities and junior researchers working on nanoscale detection of spins on an informal basis. The conference takes place from June 22th to June 26th in Leiden, the Netherlands at a former cloth factory, Scheltema.
